Dr. Michael J. Moffett has been a practicing oncologist and hematologist for over 30 years and is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. Dr. Moffett completed his fellowship training in critical care, medical oncology and hematology. His first interest was trauma and intensive care but then switched to oncology once he realized how much he enjoyed interacting with the patients and families going through a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
“It is truly a privilege to be allowed to walk with the patient through this journey. Once you are diagnosed with a serious illness, you often find yourself in a system that can be very confusing. Our #1 job is to make sure the patient gets what they need when they need it, and to ensure they’re not just another number.”
This same passion is evident in his efforts to help improve the healthcare system. In 2013, he applied to be part of a special project with Medicare called the Oncology Care Model. His application was just 1 of 12 selected in the state and 1 of 190 in the country. Because of his dedication to quality cancer care in the central valley, he is now pursuing American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Patient Centered Cancer Care Certification. It is a new national certification only given to practices that demonstrate core elements needed to deliver equitable, high-quality, effective, patient-centered care that positively impacts value in cancer care.
Dr. Moffett also has intense passion for fitness and sports; including running, hiking, and cross-country skiing.
